Course Overview

Linux Essentials includes a detailed curriculum outline based, in part, on industry standards. The curriculum includes course objectives; final exams (multiple versions); a glossary; and 15 chapters. Each chapter’s content is supplemented with the following components: 

  • Objective-based summaries
  • Exercises
  • Glossary of industry-related vocabulary
  • Quizzes
  • Interactive application-based labs
  • Unit exams

Linux Essentials features in the following key areas:

Up to date with the latest industry examination objectives. Editor’s notes and practice questions strategically placed throughout the content that focus on industry standards. Multiple final exams, labs, exercises, and practice quizzes focus on synthesis and evaluation of content objectives

This course is self-paced and must be completed within 90 days of the start date. The grade is pass/fail.

Prerequisites

  • Basic computer literacy course
  • Basic networking knowledge

System Requirements

  • Access to a computer connected to the Internet.
  • Windows 95, NT or Mac OS 7.5 or higher.
  • Internet Explorer 6.0 or later.
  • Macromedia Flash Player (current version with all patches).
  • Macromedia Shockwave Player (current version with all patches).
  • Minimum 486 or Pentium Processor with minimum 12 MB RAM, or 68040 with minimum 12 MB RAM.
  • Display minimum resolution 800x600 at 256 colors.
  • Sound Card.
